Plot
Four years after the events of The Last of Us, Joel (Troy Baker) and Ellie (Ashley Johnson) live in the Tommy settlement, located in the former city of Jackson, Wyoming. Ellie is already 19 years old, in the settlement she has friends Jesse and Dean (with whom Ellie has a close relationship). In winter, during one of the patrols, Joel and Tommy disappear, and Ellie and Dinah go in search of them.

Meanwhile, Joel and Tommy meet Abby (Laura Bailey), the leader of a small group of fighters belonging to the Washington Liberation Front and who is the daughter of one of the Cicadas scientists killed by Joel. She beats Joel to death with a golf club in front of Ellie. Ellie vows to avenge his death.

In the spring, Tommy leaves for Seattle, where the WOF base is located. Ellie and Dina follow him. Having stumbled upon a group of infected, they hide, where Ellie admits that she is immune to infection. At the hideout, Dean admits to being pregnant. The next day, Dina is very weak, Ellie goes in search of Tommy alone. Suddenly, Ellie meets Jesse and together they go to the goal. In the evening, Ellie takes Jesse to the hideout she and Dinah have found. Ellie tracks down group member Abby Nora. She meets Scars religious fanatics who are at war with the WOF for control of Seattle. After finding Nora, Ellie begs for information about Abby’s whereabouts and learns that Nora is a former member of the Cicad. Nora refuses to give information about Abby, then Ellie tortures her and she reveals that Abby is in the aquarium. Ellie recalls two years earlier, she investigated the hospital from which Joel took her, and learned of his lie that the Cicadas were unable to find a vaccine.

The next day, Ellie and Jesse separate – Jesse goes to help Tommy, while Ellie continues to search for Abby. In the aquarium, Ellie does not find her, but stumbles upon members of her group – Owen and Mel, whom she kills. Before his death, Owen manages to say that Mel was pregnant, which is why Ellie is experiencing a panic attack. After meeting Dinah, Jesse and Tommy, they decide to return to Jackson, but are ambushed by Abby, who kills Jesse and takes Tommy hostage. A flashback of young Abby four years earlier emerges, explaining Abby’s behavior towards Joel.

Abby’s story begins in Seattle. Three days ago, Owen, observing the actions of the “Scars”, goes missing. The leader of the SAF Isaac, demanding that Abby keep it secret, says that according to some intelligence reports, Owen could have gone over to the “Scars”, which could harm the plans of the SAF to storm the settlement of “Scars” and their destruction. Unbeknownst to everyone, Abby decides to track down Owen. She meets two representatives of the “Scars” – Yara and Lyova. She eventually finds Owen. He is disappointed in the war between the WOF and the Scars and wants to sail on a yacht to Santa Barbara, where the Cicadas are supposed to be.

Meanwhile, Yara’s hand is crushed, and Abby puts it in the care of Owen and Mel, and she goes with Lev to the WOF hospital for supplies. Leo escapes to see his mother, and Abby and Yara (who had to have her arm amputated) follow him. They find Lev at the moment when he has to kill his mother, who attacked him in fanatical rage. At this moment, the assault on the settlement of “Scars” by the forces of the SAF begins. Yara sacrifices herself, allowing Abby and Lev to escape. Back home, they find Owen and Mel dead and a map that marks Ellie’s hideout.
