Final fantasy vii remake
Final Fantasy VII Remake is an Action / RPG computer game developed and released by Square Enix for the PlayStation 4 in 2020, a remake of the 1997 game of the same name. The Remake covers only the initial part of the story and world of the original game related to the city of Midgar, and is the first of several games – the following games in development should correspond to other segments of the original game and show the world outside Midgar. The game’s key developers – Tetsuya Nomura, Kazushige Nojima, and Yoshinori Kitase – also worked on the original 1997 game.
Remake takes place in a dystopian fictional world set in a sci-fi environment with fantasy elements; a group of eco-terrorists, which is joined by the mercenary Cloud Strife, is fighting the Shinra megacorporation, which exploits the vital energy of the planet. While the Remake generally follows the original Final Fantasy VII’s storyline, Remake introduces many additional scenes and characters; it also includes a postmodern reimagining of the original – in addition to “Shinra” and the antagonist Sephiroth, the heroes are faced with ghostly “guardians of fate”, making sure that the events of the game do not deviate from the intended path. Remake uses a redesigned battle mechanic compared to other parts of the Final Fantasy series, combining real-time control of heroes with free movement around the battlefield and the use of special menus and action points for using items and magic.
Final Fantasy VII Remake received positive reviews from critics who praised the game’s graphics, gameplay, storyline and soundtrack. It also enjoyed commercial success, becoming one of the fastest-selling games on the PlayStation 4, selling 3.5 million copies in three days of release.
On February 26, 2021, at the presentation of State of Play, a version for the PlayStation 5 console was announced, which includes an improved technical part of the game and a new episode telling about the adventures of Yuffie Kisaragi.
Game process
The gameplay can be roughly divided into two main parts: Midgar exploration and real-time battles. While exploring the world, the player can follow the plot of the game and perform various side quests that shed some light on the world of the game, such as quests from the inhabitants of the city, battles in the Colosseum and Chudley’s quests, for the completion of which he will receive new matters. Between the segments of the metropolis, you can quickly move with the help of carts with Chocobo.
Combat system
During the battles, the game is a party Action-RPG, tied to the competent selection of equipment, material and the use of the skills of the party members.
Characters have one basic attack and one unique attack (for example, changing stance with Cloud or charged shot with Barrett), can dodge and get into a defensive stance. Battles in the game are based on the ATB (Active-Time Battle) system: as soon as the player begins to inflict damage on the enemy, the ATB scale, consisting of two segments, begins to fill. By pressing a separate button, the time in the game slows down, and a window for choosing an action appears in front of the player, as in the classic games of the series, in which you can choose a special attack, skill, magic, or the use of an item – each action consumes one or two segments of the ATB scale. The player can freely switch between the three characters available in the party, having the opportunity at any time to choose an action for them from the menu item.
Each hero also has two varieties of Limit Break, special attacks or skills of great power, the use of which becomes available only to the field of inflicting a certain amount of damage to the main characters.
Enemies have a Stagger scale filled with damage (after filling which they become stunned and begin to receive more damage), as well as vulnerability to a certain type of black magic (for example, fire in humans, lightning in mechanical enemies, etc.).
The summoned creatures, unlike the 97th game, cannot appear on the battlefield at the request of the player, but appear on it only from time to time if the battle has dragged on for too long. Each character can have only one summoning material equipped, for which a separate slot is allocated; it is not possible to equip it with other materials. By default, the game contains Ifrit, Shiva, Chocobo with Moogle, Bahamut, Fat Chocobo and Leviathan, as DLC, the game also contains Cactuar, Carbuncle and Chocobo Chicken. The summoned creature can be in battle for a limited amount of time, the player cannot control the summoned creature, but he can select its skills from the command menu. After the timer expires, the summoning creature unleashes a powerful final attack on enemies.
