Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a multi-platform action / RPG computer game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the twelfth game in the Assassin’s Creed series. The game was released on Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S platforms on November 10, 2020, and the game was released on PlayStation 5 on November 12, 2020.

The game takes place in the 9th century on the territory of England, in the era of warring kingdoms and Viking conquests. The main character is the Norwegian Viking Eyvor, who has to find a new home for his clan in an alien land. The gender of the hero can be changed throughout the game at any time.

Plot
The game begins in 873 during the Viking conquests. The player will take on the role of a warrior (or warrior) Eyvor, leading his kin from the shores of cold Norway to the fertile lands of England in search of a new home. The Eyvor clan is opposed by the leaders of the four Anglo-Saxon kingdoms: Wessex, Northumbria, East Anglia and Mercia, led by Alfred the Great. Also, the hero will have to meet with the Invisibles and help them in the fight against the Order of the Ancients [comm. one]. As in the previous part of the series, the story of Leila Hassan continues in the 21st century. In addition to England and Norway, the game also takes place in North America, called Vinland, and in fantasy worlds: Asgard, Jotunheim and Valhalle.

Development of
The official announcement of the game took place on April 29, 2020 during an 8-hour online broadcast [4]. The next day, Ubisoft presented the debut trailer and screenshots of the game world.

The creative director of the game was Ashraf Ismail, who left the development of the project on June 25, 2020. In addition to the leading studio Ubisoft Montreal, 14 divisions of the company are working on the project around the world.

On July 12, 2020, at the Ubisoft – Ubisoft Forward event, a new gameplay trailer was presented and the release date of the game on Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One platforms – November 17, 2020 was announced, later it was announced that the game would be released on November 10, 2020 along with the release game console Xbox Series X / S. The game was released on PlayStation 5 on November 12, 2020.

Additional downloadable content
The Berserker’s Path was a quest that players received for pre-ordering the game. Later, it became available for purchase in the Ubisoft Store app.

“Season Pass” is a season pass for the game, which includes several bonuses:
“The Legend of Beowulf” – a small task obtained only for the purchase of a season ticket;
Wrath of the Druids is the first major expansion for the game, which was slated to premiere on April 29th, but was pushed back by 2 weeks and only took place on May 13th. The add-ons are set in Ireland;
Siege of Paris is the second major expansion released on August 12, 2021. Some experts criticized him for the lack of elaboration of the characters, the plot, the role of the protagonist in what is happening and the graphic solutions.
As part of the game’s support program, major add-ons are also being released, including new game events or game modes:

“Yule” is the first temporary event associated with the holiday of the ancient Germans. The event started on December 17, 2020 and lasted for three weeks. On January 7, 2021, the event ended. On the eve of 2022, the event again became available to players [9];
River Raids – a new game mode that became available to players on February 16, 2021;
Interactive Tour: Viking Age is an add-on for the game, which is a special game mode that focuses on providing the player with information about the history, mythology, historical events, personalities, places and attractions of the locations shown in the game. The release took place on October 19, 2021;
Story Intersection is the first crossover in the Assassin’s Creed series. It connects the plot of two games in the series – Valhalla and Odyssey [11]. This crossover adds new content to both Valhalla and Odyssey. The crossover became available in the first on December 14, 2021, with the release of update 1.4.1.
Dawn of Ragnarok is the largest expansion to the game, scheduled for release on March 10, 2022. The supplement will take the player to one of the parallel worlds of Scandinavian mythology, and the main character will be the main god of the Scandinavian pagans.
